The Montana Association for the Blind was formed in the late 1940s by a group of young blind Montanans. It has been the sole voice of the blind of Montana since that time. In 1956, the MAB received an affiliate charter from the National Federation of the Blind, the largest organization of the blind in the world, and has been the Montana affiliate of the NFB ever since.
